Janet G. Burr, MS, LPC
Owner/Therapist
Hello!
I am so grateful you're here. My name is Janet Burr and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS). I've been working in this field for over 10 years and have a heart for helping people through life's challenges. I have found that, when we learn to give ourselves grace, things change. . . . Life feels lighter and we feel more capable of moving through it. That's what Grace Counseling is. A place to lighten your load, refocus, and shift your gaze on something brighter. You deserve it and it's possible!
My Experience...
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kennesaw State University and my Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University. My clinical experience has included working with children, teens and adults in a variety of settings providing individual, couples, family and group counseling; treatment intervention; and psychological testing. I am the former Oncology Counselor at Kennestone Hospital. My professional experience also includes several years on faculty at Kennesaw State University teaching psychology. I currently teach continuing education for other counseling professionals and supervise therapists seeking licensure.
My practice is centered on the principles of Positive Psychology, which focuses on what is right with a person rather than what is wrong with them. I believe that hope and joy are catalysts for change. I use encouragement and positive regard, along with creative therapeutic techniques, to foster autonomy, confidence, and self-worth.
For kids, I use expressive therapy to create a fun and dynamic experience, providing healing through the use of imagination and expression. I combine these practices with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Behavior Therapy for effective, long term change.

For adults, I use a more eclectic approach incorporating Person-Centered therapy, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, and Strength-Based approaches.

I view our therapeutic relationship as a privilege. there is no judgement, no set expectations. Just grace for where you are and where you're going.
